Your chakras are crystals — not spinning wheels — whose quality determines how much of the Creator's light your body can truly absorb.
There is a word J uses again and again when describing what your chakras truly are — and it is not the word most spiritual traditions reach for. They are not wheels. They are not portals. They are not spinning vortices of colour, at least not in the way popular culture would have you believe.
They are 'crystals'!
And that single word, once you understand what it means, changes everything about how you approach your own spiritual development.
In a previous article we explored chakras as the energetic organs of the soul — the structures through which energy flows. But structure is only half the story. What truly determines spiritual development is not the existence of these organs, but the quality of the crystals themselves.
What a Crystal Actually Does
When J speaks of crystallinity, they are pointing to something precise. A crystal is matter in its most coherent, organised, geometrically pure state. Its molecules are not scattered or random — they are arranged in a repeating, structured pattern that allows light to pass through it cleanly, without distortion, without scattering.
This is the key to everything.
"The more crystalline you can make it," J tells us, "the more the soul that you are, can display its real powers."
Your body, according to J, is a liquid crystal — a living matrix designed to absorb, process, and transmit light from multiple dimensions simultaneously. At the deepest level, your cells are not merely chemical machines processing food into energy. They are optical instruments designed to metabolise light. J is direct about this: "The body is able to metabolise photons as much as it is able to metabolise atoms."
And at the very apex of this system sit your chakras — the primary receiving stations, the master crystals, through which the light of the One Infinite Creator enters your being.
"Your atomic body merely exists to process the light atomically that is coming from the non-atomic world, your atomic body is but a shadow or mirror... of light coming through your energy centres."
The Quality Question
Here is where J's teaching diverges sharply from popular spiritual teaching about chakras, and it is a divergence worth sitting with.
Most teachings focus on whether your chakras are open or closed, large or small, spinning fast or sluggishly. J finds this framing largely beside the point.
"Spiritual growth is not about having large Chakras that absorb large volumes of infinite light, spiritual growth is not this you see."
What matters — the only thing that truly matters — is not the size of your chakra crystals but their 'quality'. Their purity. Their coherence. Their ability to receive the pure tone of the Creator and transmit it without distorting it.
J uses a beautiful image to explain this. Imagine two crystal glasses, both held up to the light. One is filled with pure, still water. The other is murky, clouded. The pure glass allows light to pass through effortlessly, with only gentle refraction. The clouded glass barely lets any light through at all.
"Our Chakras work in a remarkably similar way."
The light is always pouring down. The Creator's pure tone is always broadcasting. The question is never whether the light exists — it is always whether your crystals are clean enough to receive it without distortion.
And the quality of your crystals, J explains without any ambiguity, is a direct reflection of the quality of your consciousness. "When you perfect your consciousness, you perfect your Chakra."
The Psychedelic Detour
This understanding allows J to offer what may be one of the most nuanced and honest assessments of psychedelic substances available in spiritual literature.
When someone takes a psychedelic compound, something real happens to their chakras — but it is not what people typically assume. The compound does not improve the crystalline quality of the energy centres. What it does is make them temporarily bigger.
"A psychedelic compound increases the actual size of the Chakra crystals which then go on to absorb the light coming from the One Infinite Creator."
Larger crystals absorb more light. This is why psychedelic experiences can feel genuinely spiritual, genuinely expansive, genuinely beautiful. For a few hours, you are absorbing more of the Creator's light than you normally do, and it feels extraordinary.
But here is the catch, and J is clear-eyed about it: if your crystals are not coherent — if their internal structure is not harmonious — then the sudden flood of additional light will not produce bliss. It will produce a bad trip. The incoherence in your consciousness becomes magnified along with the increased absorption.
"This is because the crystals of their Chakras are not harmonious enough to handle the increased energy that is pouring into the Chakras themselves."
And critically, when the compound wears off, your crystals return to whatever size they were before. The quality has not changed. The substance did the work, not you — and spiritual centres, J warns, can become lethargic and reliant on external compounds to open rather than developing the inner capacity to open naturally.
"This is not a shortcut to spiritual growth, yes it will temporarily enlarge your Chakras, but it doesn't make them any more crystalline."
The lesson is not that such experiences are without value — J acknowledges that curiosity is healthy, and that a single careful experience might offer genuine insight. The lesson is that these compounds are not a path. They are, at best, a brief window into a room you must learn to enter on your own.
The Instrument Playing
J offers another image that deserves quiet contemplation. Think of your body as a musical instrument. Think of your chakras as the notes available to be played within that instrument. And think of the light from infinity as the conductor.
When an instrument is out of tune — when it is scratched, warped, uncared for — certain notes are unavailable. The higher, more refined notes require a more refined instrument. You can try to play them, but what comes out is not music. It is noise.
"There's a big difference between a note and a noise, so whilst we may try to play these higher notes anyway, the sounds the notes create will likely be very weak and basically a bit rubbish."
The practice of spiritual development, then, is the practice of tuning the instrument. As the quality of your consciousness improves — as stress, drama, incoherence, and emotional turbulence are gradually resolved — the instrument becomes more refined. Notes that were once unavailable become accessible. The song your soul wants to sing can finally be expressed.
"By increasing the quality of your consciousness, the instrument gets tuned, more complex notes become available and the song, that beautiful song we call your soul, can better express in more of its infinite glory."
This is why meditation is not optional in J's framework. It is the primary means by which the instrument is tuned. It is the only sustainable path to genuine crystalline coherence — to chakras that can absorb the pure tone of infinity without distorting it.
Light Metabolism in Practice
J's teaching on light metabolism has practical implications that most people have never considered.
Because your cells are designed to absorb and process light — not just food — the conditions under which you live directly affect your capacity to receive. This is why J places such emphasis on natural light, on time spent outdoors, on minimising the artificial electromagnetic environment of modern technology.
"The radiation many are surrounded by today is quite harmful," J observes. Wireless radiation produces what J describes as "sharp, strong photons that deflect at right angles" — completely unlike the curved, supple photons of natural light. Your chakras, designed to absorb natural light frequencies, are stressed by these artificial frequencies. The Crown Chakra in particular bears the brunt of this, with J noting that such stress can cascade down through the meridian system and resurface old physical and psychological difficulties.
The solution is not complicated: spend time in nature. Allow your crystalline system to bathe in the photons it was built to absorb. And do the inner work that improves the quality of the crystals themselves.
The Timeless Dimension of Chakras
There is one final teaching of J on this subject that is perhaps the most profound — and the most difficult to hold in an ordinary Western mind.
Your chakras, J reveals, exist in a dimension that is fundamentally timeless. They were not created. They cannot die. They have always existed, and they exist within the One Infinite Creator itself.
"The Chakras exist in a realm that is timeless, in that the concept of time in its linear sense is an illusion. You were always with God and never left God."
This means that the work of improving your chakras is not the work of building something new. It is the work of remembering something eternal. The perfect crystal was always there. Consciousness is simply clearing the distortion that prevents the light from shining through.
"The Chakra is the very reason you are able to have a vehicle in the first place."
You did not come equipped with a body that happens to have some energy centres tucked inside it. The energy centres came first. The body is their shadow — their physical expression, their lower-density mirror. And as the crystals clear, as consciousness purifies, the mirror begins to reflect something that no ordinary mirror has ever shown: the face of the infinite, looking back at you from inside your own being.
Practical Application
Practice conscious light absorption: Sit in direct sunlight for 10–20 minutes daily with eyes gently closed. Set a simple intention to absorb the natural photons through your chakra system. Over time this builds a genuine felt sense of your energy centres as receiving structures.
Audit your electromagnetic environment: J takes this seriously and so should you. Consider where your Wi-Fi router sits relative to where you sleep and spend most of your time. Where possible, hardwire internet connections and turn wireless devices off at night.
Ask the quality question, not the size question: When assessing your chakras through felt sensation or meditation, resist the temptation to ask "Is this open or closed?" Ask instead: "How coherent does this feel? How pure? How undistorted?" These are the questions that orient practice toward genuine crystalline development.
Feed the instrument well: Remember that diet affects chakra quality directly. Living foods — vegetables, unprocessed plant matter — carry Chi. Heavily processed and sugar-laden foods disrupt the cellular environment in which Prana is synthesised. Your crystals cannot achieve coherence if the cells they govern are in a state of chronic disturbance.
